And no, it\u2019s not some cute TikTok trend or a \u201cmanifest your dream car\u201d type thing. This one\u2019s ancient, esoteric, and completely packed with symbolism. Just the name alone takes half a breath: The Mantra of the Secret Essence of the Whole Body Relics of All Tathagatas<\/strong>. Or in Chinese: \u4e00\u5207\u5982\u6765\u5fc3\u79d8\u5bc6\u5168\u8eab\u820d\u5229\u5b9d\u7ba7\u5370\u9640\u7f57\u5c3c. Try saying that three times fast. Or 108 times slowly\u2014which is what I\u2019ve basically been doing on and off for the last five years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Now, I didn\u2019t start chanting it expecting fireworks or ghostly apparitions. But here\u2019s the truth: during the early months, I\u2019d have these moments\u2014visions, feelings, call it sixth sense tuning, whatever\u2014that felt like\u2026 ancestral contact. I saw my great-grandma. My grandparents. My teacher\u2019s presence. Like they were silently cheering me on. Or watching. Or reminding me: hey, keep going. According to the text, just writing this mantra, chanting it, or enshrining it in a stupa<\/a> made of anything from bricks to seven jewels\u2026 can clear eons of karma, free beings from the three realms of suffering, and attract immense blessings in this life and the next.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Yeah. It\u2019s that intense.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But what really struck me was not just the benefits\u2014it\u2019s the story<\/em> behind how this mantra was revealed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A Little History\u2014and a Hidden Stupa<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The sutra opens with the Buddha chilling in Magadha, surrounded by a massive crowd\u2014bodhisattvas, monks, dragons, devas, even a few mahoragas (giant serpent spirits\u2014don\u2019t worry, they\u2019re friendly). Then this one guy stands up\u2014Pure Wonderful Light, a devoted Brahmin<\/a>. He invites the Buddha and the whole spiritual entourage over for lunch at his place. No big deal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But on the way to his house, the Buddha stops. He senses something. There\u2019s this broken-down mound that used to be a stupa. It\u2019s covered in weeds, looking like nothing special. But the moment the Buddha approaches, it bursts into light. A voice echoes from the mound, praising the Buddha and the Brahmin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And then\u2014this is where it gets wild\u2014the Buddha takes off his robe, covers the stupa, and starts crying.<\/strong> Not just him. Buddhas from all ten directions<\/em> show up and start shedding tears, too.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
